Twins of Different Mothers-1

Description

I did a shoot recently with two very experienced art models: Sie ist Idaho and BlueRiverDream. Those of you who've followed my work have seen the results of two previous shoots with Sie ist Idaho. This is actually my first time shooting with BlueRiverDream.

The shoot nearly didn't come off--Sie had a terrible cold and had emailed me the day before saying she felt like death warmed over. But when I checked back, she was determined to give it a shot (no pun intended). We kept it shorter than we planned and I did a bit of improvising to give her some breaks. That said, she did (as usual) terrific work.

And BlueRiverDream joined us. It was my first time shooting with her and it was a blast. I shot the two of them in tandem and also solo (and when I was shooting Sie, that was an opportunity for BlueRiverDream to shoot as well...and from the few examples I saw she has a great eye).

This shot is just one of the first edits from the session (about 350 more to go...plus CD's to get to SiI and BRD!). There are a couple of things I love about this shot. There's some nice contrast. The diagonal line by Sie's body pulls you into the picture. The two of them create very nice, flowing lines. And the eye contact and pose is more than just two talented models in the same frame but there's an unspoken interaction, a degree of emotion implied in the shot.

Why the title? Some of you may be familiar with the Dan Fogelberg/Tim Weissberg album by the name "Twin Sons of Different Mothers" about two artists who mesh perfectly--as if twins--yet are different people. I felt that way about SiI and BRD. I've done tandem shoots before that went very well. But the two of them (despite very different physical appearances) seemed to be channeling the same flow and emotion and feel while working together. You've probably guessed it by now but let me state the obvious: it was a real pleasure shooting with them both.
